Happy Monday, and thanks for tuning into this week’s segment of Mondays with Miranda!
In recent cybersecurity news, there have been reports of personal data being scraped from more than 500 million LinkedIn users and posted for sale online. This comes not too long after Facebook’s similar incident of personal data being leaked from more than 533 million users last week. The reports are saying that although this is an extremely unfortunate situation for these hundreds of millions of users, it looks like the data stolen did not contain any payment card information or passwords.
In other more exciting news, the CMMC Accreditation Body has appointed their first CEO, Matthew Travis. According to the CMMC-AB, Travis will be “oversee[ing] the day-to-day development and management of the CMMC-AB to support the goals and objectives of its ultimate customer, the Department of Defense (DoD).” Before this position, he was the first Deputy Director of the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
On the topic of the CMMC-AB, they also recently launched an Industry Advisory Council to provide expert feedback and recommendations on the CMMC implementation to the DoD and CMMC-AB. The CMMC-AB IAC is chaired by Treasurer, Yong-Gon Chon, and also includes 12 thought leaders who represent small to large businesses from many different markets within the DIB.
