In more exciting news, the CMMC Accreditation Body recently authorized the first Certified Third-Party Assessment Organization (C3PAO). In order for a company to become a C3PAO, they must first pass a CMMC Maturity Level 3 (ML3) assessment performed by the Defense Industrial Base Cybersecurity Assessment Center (DIBCAC). So far, RedSpin has been the only company to do so.
Lastly, the global association, IPC, recently surveyed 108 electronic manufacturers, suppliers and contract manufacturers and found that 24% of respondents said the cost of CMMC compliance may force their companies to leave the U.S. defense market. Although, on a more positive note, 32% of respondents said they expect to be ready for a CMMC assessment in 1-2 years. What came as the biggest surprise was that the majority of the respondents said their companies are willing to spend at least $50,000 on CMMC readiness.
