Happy Monday, and thanks for tuning into this week’s segment of Mondays with Miranda!
Solarwinds has become the talk of the (cyber) town, as news has just been released stating that NASA and the FAA are also victims of the recent cyber attack. The attack hit nine U.S. government agencies and about 100 private companies, according to a White House Official. The Biden Administration is currently “working on an executive order to improve the Department of Homeland Security’s ability to ensure the resilience of government networks.” They are looking to improve the “visibility” into networks that was missing at the time of the Solarwinds hack. The administration is also preparing sanctions to punish Moscow for the cyber attacks.
In other news, “Keith Nakasone, a senior acquisition official at the General Services Administration (GSA), recently said that his agency has held what he called “very early” talks with other Federal agencies aimed at spreading the use of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) security standard through more of the Federal government.” This is exciting news, as currently CMMC is only being implemented for those with Department of Defense contracts and their suppliers.
Speaking of CMMC certifications, here’s your friendly reminder that NeQter Labs provides most of the tools needed to pass a CMMC level 3 audit. If you’re in the market for a SIEM tool, Vulnerability Scanner, Inventory Management tool, Network Monitor, and/or Policy Builder, keep us in mind. These tools can be used as cybersecurity best practice within your organization, or most importantly, for CMMC and/or NIST SP 800-171 compliance.
That’s all for today! Thank you for tuning in to this week’s segment of “Mondays With Miranda!” Keep up to date with current news by following NeQter Labs on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Youtube. We love comments and questions, so drop me an email [email protected].
